7th June 2022 – Our Rock Hall Landmark Challenge is launched

EXCITING NEWS! Are you up for a challenge? Would you like to be part of a “history making” free activity?
Join us, with your family, friends, workmates etc. for our ROCK HALL LANDMARK CHALLENGE on Saturday 20th August at 2pm in Moses Gate Country Park in Farnworth, near Bolton (meet outside Rock Hall gates at 2pm).
The Story behind the idea:-
During our Rock Hall/Farnworth related research work (which is ongoing) we were lucky to obtain an interesting “real photo” postcard. In June 1906, 300 people from Farnworth & Kearsley Parish Church went to Ilfracombe in Devon. They gathered together on a hillside called Capstone Hill and formed the word “Devon”. It was photographed and a real photo postcard was made of the event. To show support for the Save Rock Hall project we have decided to create a similar memorable event, 116 years later, again with 300 people taking part.
The FREE event will be at 2pm Saturday 20th August 2022 (weather permitting). If the weather is poor on 20th August we will try again on 21st August at 2pm. On the day that we run the event, we will all gather in the park near Rock Hall. You will need to wear a WHITE TOP or T-SHIRT and we will form the words “Save Rock Hall”. An aerial drone photo (very kindly provided by the amazing film producer Sam Picton from What Media) will be taken of us all. The photo will look similar to the image below. We expect media interest possibly from TV, Radio, and/or Newspapers, so by taking part, you agree to being photographed or even interviewed etc.
To secure one of the 300 free places, please book by emailing the team at info@bananaenterprise.co.uk with your name, how many adults and children will be attending and your contact number. This is so that we can contact you if the weather is too bad for the drone to be flown on 20th August and to tell you whether the event will be on 21st August instead).
You can also book by sending us a message on social media with your details or you can go to our website events page and book your free place there https://rockhall1807.co.uk/…/rock-hall-landmark-challenge/
We want to have some fun, create history and send a positive message to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, who are now looking at our £4million funding bid for the restoration, expansion of Rock Hall and 3 years of free community activities and more!.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! LETS DO THIS!
We hope the local news channels will cover the event. BBC, ITV come and join us!
