Rock Hall Needs You!
As our faithful followers will know, this is the 4th year that our Charity has been working on trying to acquire, save and restore Rock Hall on behalf of the community. Projects like these are very expensive, take a lot of time and energy, are complicated and can be very stressful. There’s so many barriers, that it’s no wonder that some people don’t take on such projects!
The main funder for projects like this is the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and there are so many projects competing with each other to win funding. Only this week, we have heard the sad news about someone who is in a similar position to us, who has spent 4 years (and thousands of pounds), trying to secure funding to restore a heritage building, but is now having to walk away from their project. 
The reality is, that this could be us this year too. This is why, we are doing everything we can to strengthen our re-application bid this year and hopefully encourage the NLHF to agree to fund Rock Hall this September!
Our Charity (Banana Enterprise) took a leap of faith on this project which we started in 2020 and here we are again, working on our 2nd attempt at securing funds from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). Last year, whilst the NLHF Committee recognised the significance of Rock Hall and the high level of potential for the project (which was great feedback!), our bid was rejected because more clarity was needed on how we and Bolton Council, who own the Hall, would work in partnership.
Since then, our Charity wrote a successful bid to the Government and secured £295,000 to contribute to the project and more funding is still being sought from elsewhere. The Council are supporting the project and are working in partnership with our Charity. We are all doing what we can to make this year’s funding bid application a successful one, but now we need your help too.
